Why Crying Was the Most Powerful Thing I Did for My Healing

Why Crying Was the Most Powerful Thing I Did for My Healing

I used to believe that crying meant I wasn’t strong enough. That it meant I was falling apart when I should have been holding it together. So I tucked it away. I swallowed the lump in my throat. I blinked fast to keep the tears from spilling.

Until one day, they came anyway pouring, unstoppable, and fierce.

I remember sitting in my car, parked in the driveway, hands still on the steering wheel. I had just finished a long day of pretending everything was fine. A song came on the radio and suddenly, my chest cracked open.I cried until the windows fogged over. I cried until I felt the tension loosen in my jaw, my shoulders, my heartbeat. And when it was over, I wasn’t empty. I was lighter.

Here’s what I’ve learned since: crying isn’t weakness, it’s release.

It clears the weight we’ve been carrying so our bodies can relax.

It signals safety to our nervous system, telling us it’s okay to let go.

It helps us process emotions that words alone can’t touch.

When we give ourselves permission to cry, we’re making space for something new. That’s why I created the Cry It Out MoonMarked Moment so you have a soft, intentional space to release what’s been stuck inside. If you’ve been holding it in… maybe today is the day to let it out.
